Reading the site
You can read every article and every resource page without an account, without signing in, and without telling us who you are. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share information for advertising.
Downloading a file
To download a PDF we ask for your email address and send a six-digit code to confirm it is yours. This is the only thing you are asked for anywhere on the site.
When you do that, we store:
- Your email address.
- A one-time code, stored scrambled so it cannot be read back, which stops somebody else using your address.
- Which resources you download and when, so we know which material students find useful.
- A scrambled form of your network address, used only to spot abuse. The address itself is not stored.
After you confirm your address, your browser remembers it for 60 days so you are not asked again on that device. That is kept in a cookie which holds nothing but a signed note of your address.
Updates by email
Confirming your address lets you download; it does not sign you up for anything. We send study updates only if you tick the box asking for them, and you can stop them at any time using the link in any email, or the button on this page.
Who else sees it
We keep your information to ourselves. A small number of companies handle parts of the service for us:
- Cloudflare — website delivery and file storage.
- Brevo — sending verification and update emails.
They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
- Verification codes — deleted within a day of being used or expiring.
- Your email record — kept while you use downloads, and removed on request.
- Download history — kept for 24 months to understand which material is useful.
- Server logs — kept for 30 days for security and troubleshooting.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, stop the emails, or have everything deleted. The quickest way is the buttons on this page; you can also write to us and we will act within 30 days.
Deleting your record removes your address, your consent record and your codes. Counts of how often a resource was downloaded remain, but they are no longer connected to you.
Children
This service is meant for candidates preparing for the Civil Services Examination and is not directed at children under 18. Please do not use the download form if you are under 18.
Keeping it safe
Traffic to the site is encrypted. Download links expire within minutes and cannot be reused. Verification codes expire in ten minutes and allow a few attempts. Only a small number of staff accounts can reach the editor, and every change is recorded.
